Tim Schafer will receive one of the highest recognitions in the video game industry

We are talking about the founder and head of the Xbox Double Fine Productions studio, Tim Schafer.

The 56-year-old creative will be the 26th inductee into the AIAS (Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences) Hall of Fame. This investiture will be held at the 26th edition of the DICE Awards on February 24 and the person in charge of presenting it will be Greg Price, head of PlayStation Creators.

According to the AIAS, this recognition is given to “game creators who have been instrumental in developing highly influential games and advancing a particular genre.” Thus, Tim Schafer will be part of the list that includes legendary figures in the industry, such as Shigeru Miyamoto, Hironobu Sakaguchi, Mark Cerny, Gabe Newell, Hideo Kojima, Todd Howard, John Carmack, Yu Suzuki, Bonnie Ross, Ed Boon and Tim Sweeney.

Who is Tim Schafer and why will he enter the Hall of Fame?

Tim Schafer has worked in the video game industry since 1990 and has been involved in almost 30 games since 1990, including titles like The Secret of Monkey Island, full throttle, Day of the Tentacle, psychonauts, Brutal Legend and Grim Fandango. After spending just over a decade at LucasArts, he founded his own studio, Double Fine Productions, a developer that has worked on a ton of titles, like the recent RAD and psychonauts 2and that since 2019 is part of the Xbox studio network.
