The United States will provide another 450 million dollars (427 million euros) in military weapons to Ukraine, so the total assistance to kyiv since the Russian invasion began amounts to about 6,100 million dollars (5,797 million euros).
The new package includes patrol boats, cannon shells, rocket systems and additional ammunition to “help Ukraine defend its democracy against unprovoked Russian aggression,” the National Security Council spokesman said on Thursday. John Kirby.
According to a Pentagon statement, advanced by the Bloomberg news agency, the new assistance includes four high-mobility artillery rocket systems; 36,000 rounds of 105mm ammunition; 18 tactical vehicles to tow 155mm artillery; 1,200 grenade launchers; 2,000 machine guns; and 18 coastal and river patrol boats.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian authorities have reported that the first ‘HIMARS’ type multiple rocket launcher units have already arrived in Ukraine as part of Washington’s assistance packages, as confirmed on his official Twitter profile by the Minister of Defense Ukrainian, Oleksii Reznikov.
US Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl has previously said that these systems — four in all — and their accompanying guided munitions “will allow Ukraine to hit whatever targets it needs to fight inside Ukrainian territory,” as picked up by the CBS News network.
