In an exclusive interview with France 24, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, expressed his confidence that his country will win the war it has been facing for a year now. From Brussels, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy said that President Vladimir Putin represents a threat to the international community and analyzed his strategy for the conflict. He also spoke about the military strategy of Ukraine, the support of the West, the damage caused by the conflict and much more.
Kuleba criticized those in the West who have expressed concern that the Russians are gaining the upper hand on the battlefield. The official said that Ukraine needs “weapons, sanctions, money and solidarity,” urging each country to choose how to show solidarity.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy argued that the process for delivering main battle tanks to Ukraine is “on track” and that it is only a matter of “weeks” until they are delivered. Regarding the fighter jets, he stated that he has “no doubt” that they will also be supplied.
According to Kuleba, Putin spells trouble not only for Ukraine, but for the world. He cited the Balkans and Syria as places where Putin is implementing his “destroy” strategy.
When asked about calls by French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz not to humiliate Putin and to keep channels open with him, Kuleba replied that he had not heard that “for many months.”
Asked about a hypothetical regime change in Moscow, the diplomat said that only the Russians should decide who should lead their country. However, he added: “The question is how to make the people of Russia understand that Putin is also their problem and that their lives will be much better without him.”
As for the US version that China was considering sending lethal aid to Russia, Kuleba warned that if any country sent weapons to Russia, it would be acting against respect for territorial integrity.
