Israel’s Supreme Court lifts entry restrictions on Ukrainians

Moscow and kyiv enter a new phase of their particular cultural battle

July 4. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Israel’s Supreme Court on Sunday lifted entry restrictions on Ukrainians, after the country’s Interior Minister, Ayelet Shaked, had applied a limit to the number of refugees from Ukraine who could enter Israel with a visa.

According to current regulations, Ukrainians do not need a visa to obtain a visit of up to three months in Israel. In March, Shaked claimed that Israel would allow some 20,000 Ukrainians who had tourist visas or were in the country illegally before the Russian invasion to stay.

For his part, the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, has praised the Israeli court’s ruling for removing restrictions on the entry of Ukrainian refugees.

“The rule of law and respect for Human Rights is exactly what distinguishes a true and developed democracy!” Zelensky celebrated on his Twitter account.
