The French anti-terrorist Prosecutor’s Office has requested this Monday 18 years in prison for the ex-combatant of the Islamic State Jonathan Geffroy, who has appeared before the courts for “participation in a terrorist criminal association”.
Geffroy joined the ranks of Islamic State in February 2015 along with his Moroccan wife, Latifa Chadli, and their son, who was just two months old at the time. The 40-year-old man participated in a detachment that included several Frenchmen, including the brothers Jean-Michel and Fabien Clain, as reported by ‘Ouest France’.
This cell claimed responsibility for the attacks of November 13, 2015 in France. Likewise, the former jihadist also participated in the ranks of a cell created by the French veteran Abdelilah Himich, which included the attackers of the Bataclan attack.
Geffroy’s mother, Denise P., has also appeared in court for financing a terrorist enterprise after sending her son several thousand euros to the Iraqi-Syrian zone. The Prosecutor’s Office asks for her three years in prison, while against the ex-jihadist’s wife, Chadli, seven years.
The ex-combatant, repentant, contacted the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) in 2016 and was captured in early 2017 by the Free Syrian Army (ASL) while trying to flee Syria with his wife and son, according to TF1 Info.
