The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, has indicated this Tuesday his intention to provide the entire territory of Ukraine with “basic” protection equipment against missile attacks during this year, and has asked his Western allies for “understanding” so that they provide to the country of modern material to be able to carry out its implementation.

“This is a maximum task for our state – to provide basic security to Ukrainians, basic protection against missile attacks already this year. But the fulfillment of this task depends not only on us, but also on the understanding of our fundamental needs by part of our partners,” said the Ukrainian president in his daily message to the Ukrainian population.

Zelenski has assured that the diplomatic activity to obtain modern and sufficient anti-missile systems for Ukraine has not been reduced “not a single day”, and has stressed that the State must help the defense of the country “as much as possible”.

“Our task with you is to hold on, to protect ourselves, in particular to protect our emotions, to help defend the country as much as possible, to protect the state, as much as is necessary for our victory,” he added.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian president has detailed that in the last day the regions of Sumy, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk have been attacked by Ukrainian troops. In addition, he has maintained that some of the Russian missiles have been shot down by Ukrainian anti-aircraft forces.

He also lamented that during the night of this Tuesday, the air alert has sounded in almost the entire territory of the country: “Before that, there had been no air alert in the capital and in some regions for some time (…) Some people have even become particularly anxious about such unusual silence.”
