The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has extended his congratulations to the Ukrainian Air Force for having shot down 52 of the 54 drones, presumably Iranian-made, that attacked the Kiev region during the early hours of the morning.
“Each shoot down of enemy drones and missiles is a human life saved,” Zelensky said, calling “heroes” all those who “eliminate enemy attacks” and “do everything possible to save others,” according to the Ukrinform news agency.
His message comes after the air force claimed to have shot down 52 of the 54 Iranian-made Shahed drones launched by Moscow in the largest recorded drone strike across the country since the start of the Russian invasion, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The attack has been launched against military installations and critical infrastructure in the kyiv region, where at least one man has been killed and two others injured. Due to falling drone fragments, several residential buildings, as well as cars, have been damaged.
