The Red Bull man gets his sixth consecutive victory in the United Kingdom, and is even more of a leader in the World Cup.
max verstappen add and continue The Dutch Red Bull driver once again imposed himself on the rest of the grid, this time at Silverstone, thus taking his sixth consecutive victory in the Formula 1 World Championship.
Lando Norris and lewis hamilton accompanied Verstappen on the podium, with the Spanish Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz, seventh and tenth.
Verstappen, who started from pole position, found himself overtaken at the start by McLaren’s Norris, but moved back into the lead on lap five and held on to the finish.
Norris was expected to drop back after qualifying surprisingly second on the grid, but instead remained Verstappen’s closest rival throughout the race.
After the race restarted after the safety car came out, Norris was able to battle wheel-to-wheel with seven-time champion Hamilton, who had what were theoretically faster tyres. It is about the best result for both Norris and McLaren since 2021.
With this new victory, Verstappen is for his part a little more leader in the drivers’ classification, with 255 points to the 156 of his teammate, the Mexican. Checo Perez. Fernando Alonso remains third, with 137 points.
The Constructors’ World Championship is, of course, still led by Red Bull, which with 411 points already leads its immediate rival, Mercedes, by more than 203. Next stop, Hungary.
