Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dimitro Kuleba, has warned that “as long as Russia controls Crimea”, incidents such as the US drone crashed in the Black Sea after colliding with a Russian fighter will continue to occur.
“As long as Russia controls Crimea, such incidents will be inevitable and the Black Sea will not be a safe place. So the only way to prevent such incidents is to drive Russia out of Crimea,” Kuleba said.
In statements to the British channel BBC, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister has assured that the state of mind of the allied powers is not one of escalating tensions, although “it is not one of bowing to pressure either”.
“If the West wants to show its weakness, it should certainly show its caution after an incident like this, but I don’t have the feeling that this is the mood in the capitals,” the head of Ukrainian diplomacy has transferred.
The command of the US forces in Europe denounced on Tuesday that a Russian plane had collided with an MQ-9 drone over international waters of the Black Sea. From Moscow, the Ministry of Defense assured that it had not come into contact with the unmanned aerial vehicle that, they say, plunged into the water after carrying out strange maneuvers.
