June 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The governor of Lugansk, Sergei Gaidai, has reported that the Russian Army is mobilizing “all” its remaining military equipment to the region, partially controlled by Moscow, to take it over completely.

Thus, Gaidai lamented that the Armed Forces are advancing towards Lugansk with “everything they have left” and with the main objective of taking control of the city of Severodonetsk, the last bastion of the Ukrainian forces in Lugansk.

The Russian Army has been subjecting the aforementioned city to constant bombing for several days, which has led to the destruction of a large part of Ukraine’s defensive capabilities, whose civilians take refuge in the Azot chemical plant, thus recalling an episode similar to the occurred in Mariupol and the Azovstal steel plant.

“In Azot, our defenders held the enemy for a long time, but under constant shelling, many defensive structures have already been destroyed and we may even have to retreat to new fortified areas,” Gaidai said, according to the UNIAN agency.

Earlier this week, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, in the words of its deputy minister, Anna Maliar, warned that Russia plans to capture the entire Lugansk region before June 26, this coming Sunday.

“The enemy’s plans are to reach the borders of the Lugansk region around June 26. Now, the Russian Army has launched practically all its forces and means to storm surrounding settlements,” Maliar reported.
