June 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, has valued that the European Union has recognized the European perspective, and has assured that she is prepared to “work with determination” in the coming months with the aim of achieving the status of a candidate for the European bloc .

The leaders of the Twenty-seven agreed on Thursday to grant Ukraine and Moldova candidate status, while Georgia was urged to undertake structural reforms before taking the next step.

However, Zourabichvili has welcomed the decision of the European Union and, in a publication on his social networks, has branded this day as a “historic” day for the Caucasus country.

On the other hand, the Georgian head of state has conveyed her congratulations to both the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, and his Moldovan counterpart, Maia Sandu, for having achieved candidate status.

“Obtaining the candidacy is a historic step that demonstrates the unity and will of the European Union and all its member states. The three associated members are together on our European path,” Zourabichvili concluded.
