The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is ready for APEC Economic Leaders Week, to be held from November 14-19.

BMA officials will facilitate the convenience of meeting platforms and relevant participants, as well as ensure order in the capital. A command center will be created to coordinate the work between the different units of the BMA, which will allow a rapid response to any emergency.

A meeting was held between the BMA agencies responsible for making preparations for the APEC meetings in November, attended by the Governor of Bangkok, Chadchart Sittipunt. Various subcommittees reported progress in their areas of responsibility, including the provision of security at event venues and temporary residences of APEC leaders. The meeting also discussed preparing fire trucks for emergencies, holding reception banquets, and improving various environments in the capital. The connection of CCTV cameras throughout the city was also addressed.

He said that the task of maintaining order will be carried out as in normal times, but will focus on places where large numbers of people will gather. AMB officers have also received anti-terrorism training to be able to provide surveillance support to police forces.
