One of the most popular simulators in the video game industry has made the decision to make the leap to free-to-play: The Sims 4. Electronic Arts and Maxis, the companies behind the development, announced that the base title can be downloaded on any platform.
At the moment, the game is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC, and will also be available on other consoles from October 18. On that date, gamers will be able to download the base game and connect to an online event for more details.
“We are excited to continue to welcome more players than ever to create new stories and explore without limits. The Sims has always been about celebrating new ways to play and offers plenty of possibilities to discover.
As of October 18, 2022, the base game from The Sims 4 will be available for all new players to download for free* on PC via the EA app or Origin, Mac via Origin, Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S systems, and Xbox One”, they detail in the official statement.
As expected, the expansions, kits and all the extra content will continue to be paid for. EA Play and EA Play Pro members will receive an enhanced experience when The Sims 4 packs hit The Play List on October 18.
