Alberto Núñez Feijóo has not said a single word about the storm generated by the anti-abortion policies announced last week by the Government of Castilla y León, of PP and Vox. In none of the multiple interventions that he has had since the ultra vice president Juan García-Gallardo announced a new protocol to “force” doctors to offer to listen to the heartbeat of women who decide to abort, Feijóo has spoken about the matter. Neither for better nor for bad. He did not do it either in his long speech last Saturday in Zaragoza to present the regional candidates. This Monday, his spokesperson, Borja Sémper, defended him: “He is there for other things.”
Vox’s ultra agenda on abortion brings out the internal contradictions of the PP

The PP tries to settle a controversy that attacks one of its main strategies in the face of the concatenation of elections that will take place this year: the approach to voters supposedly disenchanted with the PSOE, with an eye also on the feminist movement critical of the reforms of the Ministry of Equality. A row that they try to settle, without success, from Castilla y León.
And that in the national direction it has fallen like a bomb when, they say in the headquarters of the Madrid street Génova, the Government was cornered by the releases and sentence reductions as a result of the interpretation of the law of only yes is yes and the repeal of sedition. But, for now, Feijóo is in hiding. Neither this Monday nor tomorrow Tuesday he plans to do any public act, much less offer statements.
Sémper has tried to justify it this Monday: “If Feijóo had to demonstrate about all the things that a vice president says in all the autonomous communities, Feijóo would have to dedicate himself to being a commentator on the things they say. And he is for other things.
The new management spokesman wanted to make a “reflection”. “We are witnessing a war between Vox and the Government of Sánchez and Podemos”, assured the leader of the PP “A war of factions, interested, that feeds off and uses women”, he added. “To be clearer: Vox comes to the media rescue of Sánchez. Vox is a bargain for the Sánchez and Podemos government ”, he concluded.
Of course, Sémeper has not assessed the appeal filed against the abortion law by his party in 2010 and that the Constitutional Court has not yet resolved. Sémper has said that he hopes that the court will manifest itself “at once” hours after an interview with his leader in which Feijóo questions the newly elected president of the guarantee court, Cándido Conde-Pumpido, and launches the idea of a “suspicion” about the impartiality of the body.
“With these insensitive initiatives, Vox gets media noise. And Sánchez and Podemos manage to divert attention from problems that have been approved and directly affect women”, Sémper added at a press conference, after sticking to the institutional statement (without questions) by Alfonso Fernández Mañueco this morning : “The position is set by the president [de la Junta] which says that it does not change any protocol”.
From Genoa they have thrown a dart at their baron: “Governments have to be responsible and sensible, what we have seen in Castilla y León is not that, so our assessment is not positive.”
