The Polisario denounces the “manipulation” of Morocco after the investment forum held in Dakhla

The Polisario Front has denounced the “manipulation attempts” of Rabat after the holding of a Morocco-Spain investment forum in the Saharawi city of Dakhla, “one more maneuver to legitimize a military occupation that the Saharawi people have suffered for almost half a century “.

The Polisario delegate in Spain, Abdullah Arabi, believes that Morocco feels “legitimized” by the “illegal decision” of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, who backed the Moroccan autonomy plan for Western Sahara in March.

Arabi has pointed out in a statement that the mere existence of the MARES2022 forum contravenes International Law and the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), since “any activity that takes place in the occupied territory of Western Sahara must have the consent of the Saharawi people, through its sole and legitimate representative, the Polisario Front”.

This type of activity, he added, “cannot assume the makeup of discrimination against the Saharawi population, forced disappearances, the imprisonment of political prisoners, the most brutal repression and torture carried out by the Moroccan occupation forces”.

In this regard, he lamented that the political turn taken by Sánchez, instead of “helping to resolve the conflict”, has encouraged Rabat to “continue its dangerous expansionist adventure with the serious risks of regional instability and its obvious consequences for Spain”.
