How does this new Maps feature work?

According to Google, to generate the views in three dimensions, aerial shots of the sites were taken and combined through Artificial Intelligence with the millions of images that Google has from Street View so that the results were more realistic.

In addition, he stressed that the value of this product is not only to see the site, because when accessing the function, details of that specific place will also be shown, such as the weather forecast, some traffic data and if it is raining, a animation of it on the screen.

This function is applied in some entire cities of the world, such as London, New York or Tokyo and will be extended to others, among which Amsterdam, Dublin and Venice stand out. In this case, the tool can work to plan walking or cycling trips more effectively.

Google Maps integrates functions to optimize its performance

On the other hand, Maps presented two updates. One is “Glanceable Directions,” which allows you to track a trip directly from the lock screen or route overview without entering full navigation mode. These elements will be available this month worldwide for the modes “walk”, “bike” and “drive” on iOS and Android.

Likewise, the “Recent” tab will be launched in the desktop version, whose purpose is to facilitate the organization of recently visited places in order to later order them and create a personalized route of the most interesting points, which can be shared with other people.
