Previously we knew as the next processors of amd for high performance laptops they are called the Dragon Range. These new processors are a laptop version of the AMD Ryzen 7000 Series, called Raphael, tailored for laptops. From Red Gaming Tech they share the first specifications of these AMD Dragon Range, which are basically the AMD Raphael in laptops. This is achieved by sacrificing GPU cores to add up to 16 CPU cores to compete with the new Intel Alder Lake-HX.
These processors are mostly chosen for dedicated gaming laptopsso it is necessary a dedicated graphics card. In this way, only the two RDNA2 compute units on the integrated GPUthat if you can get higher performance when combined with a dedicated GPU.
The new AMD Dragon Range will initially have 4 configurations from 6 up to 16 cores. These are:
- AMD Ryzen 9 7980HX with 16 cores.
- AMD Ryzen 9 7900HX with 12 cores.
- AMD Ryzen 7 7800HX with 8 cores.
- AMD Ryzen 5 7600HX with 6 cores.
These processors will be able to reach a clock speed of more than 5 GHz depending on your TDP.
The characteristics of the amd phoenix, processors also based on Zen4 cores, but with a configuration of half the cores. These processors have rdna 3 graphics offering higher graphics performance if we use only the integrated GPU. They are also optimized to offer lower consumption by optimizing performance, with a TDP between 35 and 45W.
These new AMD Phoenix can be used in thinner equipment that requires greater autonomy, although we can also see them in gaming equipment with less thickness. It is said that these AMD Phoenix will be able to offer graphics performance similar to that of an NVIDIA RTX 3060 Max-Q, being able to run some games without the need to offer a dedicated graphics card. The AMD Phoenix models that are initially expected are:
- AMD Ryzen 9 7980HS with 8 Core CPU and 12 CU GPU.
- AMD Ryzen 9 7900HS with 8-core CPU and 12 CU GPU.
- AMD Ryzen 7 7800HS with 8-core CPU and 12 CU GPU.
- AMD Ryzen 5 7600HS with 6-core CPU and 6-CU GPU.
Between the first 3 configurations there is a difference the clock speed of the CPU and GPUwhich in the case of the GPU can reach up to 3 GHz offering a total of 9.2 TFLOPS.
Along with this data, it has also leaked AMD Phoenix design, which will be AMD’s first chiplet-based mobile processor. This CPU will bring together Zen 4 cores, RDNA 3 and what appears to be Infinity Cache in a single processor.
