A few weeks before launching a game, Nintendo usually offers a general trailer to reveal in summary form all the information about the title, but with Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which will be available on July 29 for Switch in a standard and collector’s edition, the company has taken a step further and dedicated a Direct to it. During the broadcast we have discovered the main characters, the combat system, the classes and the world of Aionios. The existence of an expansion pass has also been revealed.

In Aionios there are two opposing nations: Keves and Agnus, whose inhabitants dedicated body and soul to combat hardly exceed 10 years of compulsory military service. Keves is a nation that has developed mechanical technology and its army consists mostly of combat vehicles as well as small mobile units piloted by soldiers. For his part, Agnus dominates the ether, a magic-type technology. Their army is made up of specialized aether units that use small autonomous mobile weapons.

Six soldiers, three from Keves and three from Agnus, are entrusted with a special mission, but as they prepare to face off, a mysterious figure appears, inviting them to put differences aside and join forces to fight a greater evil. The reason is simple, they share the same destiny. To unravel the real reason for the conflict, our protagonists will go to Fendespada, a land cleaved by a giant sword.

Although there are six heroes, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has two clear protagonists, Noah, a Keves soldier, and Mio who represents Agnus. The two are accompanied by Lanz and his sword, the healer Eunie, the strategist Taion, and Sena, who stands out for her short stature and strength. During their journey to Fendespada our protagonists will encounter different scenarios, as well as enemies of all kinds, from creatures to soldiers of Keves and Agnus who continue to fight. To get around, there’s fast travel.

In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the combat begins by drawing the weapon when crossing paths with an enemy. The standard attack is automatic, so the challenge is to master the arts, abilities that are assigned to a button. There are arts with different types of effects that can be offensive and defensive. On the other hand, each character plays a different role: attackers deal a lot of damage, guardians block the enemy’s attacks and attract the enemy’s attention; while healers keep the team alive.

Players can switch between the six playable characters at any time. On the other hand, in addition to a role, each member of the team belongs to a class that determines their way of fighting. Swordsman, Zephyr, Heal Gunner, Tactician, Iron Guard, and Ogre each have their own characteristics. The game invites you to master all classes and as you gain experience in combat, you will increase your class level so you can learn master arts that can be added to different classes.

As for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass, it includes outfits, two heroes, quests, and a new story. There will be a total of four contents that will be delivered from the same day of launch until December 31, 2023 at the latest.
