Syria denounces the death of an Army officer in an Israeli attack against two military facilities

June 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Syrian authorities have reported this Wednesday the death of an Army officer in an attack carried out by an Israeli drone against two military installations in the provinces of Quneitra and Daraa, without the Israeli Armed Forces having commented on the event for now. .

Syrian military sources have indicated that “the Israeli enemy carried out an air attack with drones at around 7:00 a.m. (local time) against two military installations in Quneitra and Daraa,” according to a statement published by the Syrian Ministry of Defense through its account on the social network Facebook.

“The aggression has caused the martyrdom of an officer and some material losses,” he added, without for now there being more details about the bombings against Quneitra and Daraa, in southern Syria and adjacent to the Golan Heights, which Israel seized. to Syria during the Six-Day War (1967) and the Yom Kippur War (1973) and which it effectively annexed in 1981, in a movement not recognized by the international community.

The Israeli authorities recognize attacks in Syria, arguing that they are acting to prevent the establishment of Iranian bases and the shipment of weapons to the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah by Tehran, which supports the Syrian president, Bashar al Assad, within the framework of the war that broke out in 2011 after the violent repression of pro-democratic demonstrations within the framework of the ‘Arab Spring’.
