The president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, began this Wednesday a round of negotiations in Pyongyang with the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, in which he reported on the preparation of a “fundamental document” for the relations of both countries. long-term.
“Last year, as a result of your visit to Russia, we made significant progress in building our interstate relations. Today a new fundamental document has been prepared that will form the basis of our long-term relations,” Putin said at the beginning of his conversations with Kim, as reported by the Russian news agency Interfax.
Furthermore, the Russian president has once again thanked the North Korean authorities for their support both in the war in Ukraine and in the rest of the Kremlin’s international “policies.”
The North Korean leader, for his part, has assured that Putin’s visit is a sign of the “great friendship” between both countries, whose relations “are entering a period of new prosperity” that cannot be compared even with the Soviet.
Putin was officially received in Kim Il Sung Square – Kim’s grandfather and founder of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea – decorated by portraits of both leaders and before a large crowd.
After the conclusion of this first meeting, Putin will lay a wreath at the Liberation Monument and attend a concert organized by the North Korean authorities.
