‘Spider-Man 2’ aspires to be the best superhero video game by giving its hero a brutal facelift

It was more or less clear that Sony would present something from ‘Spider-Man 2’ at its Showcase, and it has been like that, with a generous trailer of more than 12 minutes with abundant gameplay and full of novelties in the mechanics. Although the game appears to be very similar in development and style to Insomniac Games’ magnificent first spider-adventure, the trailer makes an effort to display a few new features of this sequel.

It starts by showing us what will be the main nemesis of the game, Kraven the Hunter, who after deploying his ability to hunt in the jungle, chooses a new field for hunting: New York. There we see our two main heroes in action: Peter Parker and Miles Morales, in two very different incarnations of Spider-Man.

As different as that Parker is stuffed into the symbiote suit that will generate (who knows if in this installment, although the temptation is inevitable) to Venom. He currently uses it to enhance his abilities, and we see a Spider-Man who uses the tentacles and the extraordinary strength provided by the symbiote to give a good beating to his opponents. Quite a contrast to Miles Morales, who employs abilities more similar to Peter Parker’s in the first game.

But that’s not all: aside from suggesting that Parker’s aggressiveness will be a nuclear issue in this installment, we see Miles Morales employ powers we didn’t see in the first game. He glides around New York as well as webs, has new stealth moves, and between them they face off against another classic Spider-Man foe, the Lizard, in what could be a retelling of the character’s classic story ‘The Last One’. Kraven’s Hunt. In any case, a candy for fans of the first game, in a title that seems to have done its homework so as not to repeat the findings of its predecessor.
