June 24. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy of South Korea announced this Friday the signing with the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain of a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in industrial technologies between both countries.

The agreement signed between Spain and South Korea provides for deepening collaboration in “cutting-edge industrial technologies” such as “future vehicles”, or in an exclusive research and development (R&D) program for both countries, as reported by the South Korean agency Yonhap.

Likewise, both countries have agreed to expand the scope of cooperation in “cutting-edge technologies” in sectors such as aerospace or ‘bio’, as well as the creation of a separate program of multilateral collaboration.

The General Secretary for Innovation of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, Teresa Riesgo Alcaide, and the head of the South Korean Office of Innovation, Hwang Su Seong, have agreed to “actively cooperate in the cutting-edge industrial technologies of both countries”, underlining the importance to achieve “global challenges” such as carbon neutrality or digital transformation.

To this end, Spain and South Korea plan to organize –alternating the venue– an industrial technology cooperation committee between the two governments.
