The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, considers that his party has acted correctly in the Mediator case, which investigates the alleged bribes to businessmen in exchange for public contracts by different public officials. “When there is an action by a political leader that does not correspond to the exemplary standards that are required of him by the PSOE, the action is clear: it is expulsion from the seat and withdrawal from the seat,” Sánchez said in Copenhagen, during a appearance with the Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen.

Immediately afterwards, the head of the Executive has added the following: “And I would like all the parties to do the same.” With these words, Sánchez spoke for the first time about the scandal that has caused the resignation of former Socialist deputy Juan Fernando Fuentes Curbelo and his expulsion from the PSOE due to his involvement in the plot.
After that immediate dismissal, from Ferraz all the internal control mechanisms were put into operation without recording, for now, more involved. And on Wednesday the leadership of the parliamentary group sent a message to its deputies warning them that, in the event that they were more involved, they would act in the same way.
The PSOE leadership has also personally contacted various deputies from the socialist parliamentary group to increase the zeal in those closest to ‘Tito Berni’, as Fuentes was known, and to ask about the possible implications or the degree of knowledge that other people might have in the Mediator case. The conclusion, for now, is that there is no evidence of further irregularities.
The PP, however, is trying to fatten the case to involve the entire PSOE and also the entire Government in it. The party chaired by Alberto Núñez Feijóo announced on Wednesday that it will request an investigative commission in Congress, although this Thursday it assured that it would settle in the event that Sánchez appeared in parliament to give explanations in this regard.
