Qualcomm has announced your new modules RFFE (RF Front End) to be able to combine WiFi and 5G connectivity with support for the new Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, in addition to Bluetooth and 5G. To do this, they have integrated Qualcomm UltraBAW technology with signal filtering to be able to combine 5G and WiFi on the same chip.
The idea is that of combine the key components that are required to provide WiFi connectivity, between the WiFi chip itself and the antennas, in such a way that the signal can be amplified, noise reduced and all the components dedicated to these tasks can be integrated into the same module.
They are compatible with Qualcomm’s ecosystem of network devices, such as Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 with WiFi 7, or Snapdragon modems with 5G connectivity. In addition, it is also compatible with third-party chipsets.
These new modules are aimed at all types of devices, from autonomous vehicles to PCs, industrial equipment, IoT, routers, infrastructures and Wearables, among other uses.
With these modules, device manufacturers will avoid having to integrate different components separately to be able to make WiFi6E/WiFi 7, 5G and bluetooth chips work, by having everything already integrated.
Qualcomm is already sending samples to manufacturers, so it won’t take long to see them integrated into all kinds of devices.
