PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS kicks off the 2023 season with update 21.2

On January 17th, update 21.2 will arrive PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS for PC, while on January 25 it will be available on consoles. This was announced by KRAFTON, Inc. Continuing the release of Vikendi Reborn in late 2022, the new update brings several changes to Vikendi, Sanhok, and Taego, as well as Arena 1 vs. 1 in training mode.

“Vikendi has been available as a featured map since its addition in Update 21.1. The Featured Map queue has been maintained so players can enjoy our winter wonderland whenever they want, but at the same time we’re getting ongoing reports from certain regions of normal matchmaking issues.

We analyze matchmaking data and map usage rates based on these reports and discuss it internally; In conclusion, we decided that it would be best to prioritize active queues to improve gameplay for all players. Therefore, the featured map will be removed from the regions with random map selection starting with this 21.2 live update.”, it reads in the comment of the developers.

Vikendi World Updates

Just relax! – Mother Nature is wreaking havoc on Vikendi once again. With Update 21.2, players can come face to face with Blizzard Zone. Once players enter the Blizzard Zone, they will find themselves moving slower, continually taking damage every second, having difficulty seeing and hearing, and vehicles harder to maneuver.

Secrets to explore – Along with the Blizzard Zone comes new secrets for players to explore with Secret Rooms. These secret rooms are located throughout Vikendi and players who obtain a security key and open the rooms will be rewarded with various high level items.

open for repairs – Plus, Repair Kits are coming exclusively to Vikendi! If players discover that their armor, helmet, or vehicle has been damaged during the game, they can use the new repair kits. The Hull and Armor Repair Kits will fully repair them, while the Mechanic’s Toolbox repairs 500 health for vehicles and can only be used inside the vehicle.

Boxes of provisions for all – Finally, multidrops are ready to hit Vikendi! Similar to Taego, various high-grade supply crates containing weapons, armor, consumables, and more will drop randomly throughout matches.

Sanhok World Updates – Listening to player feedback, there are numerous changes coming to Sanhok. First of all, Boosters have been added to caves and rocky mountains, and Booster accessories will be provided as starting items for players. Additional bridges connecting the northwest island to the military camp and ruins have been added to make traveling around the map easier. The area of water around the Ruins has also been made deeper so that players can swim across. Finally, sandy terrain has been added to certain areas to make the hike easier.

Winning matters, even in training – The Arena was recently introduced in an earlier Survivor patch for training mode. Players can now show their dominance over friends or rivals with Win Streaks! Arena win streaks will be recorded after the main server update and a tied result will not affect the progress of the streaks.
