Well, after the announcement of the remake was revealed and one of his followers asked him about it via Twitter, the filmmaker James Gunn confessed that he is not part of the group of original developers in charge of the remake of Lollipop Chain Saw.

However, Gunn clarified that he did know about the project, since weeks ago Suda told him about it, who is also not related to the project.

“Neither Suda51 nor I are involved in this,” the filmmaker commented. “I neither approve nor condemn it! I just didn’t know anything about it. But since the articles have started to put our names out there, I think it’s important to clarify that no one approached us about this.”

Calm! Don’t lose hope in the remake of Lollipop Chain Saw

After Gunn confirmed the above, some fans became discouraged and said they had lost interest in the project.

However, we remind you that it is a remake, so if the main elements that were liked by the fans and that made it memorable are preserved, especially the characters and the narrative of the game, the absence of Suda51 and James Gunn, since the project would be based on the original work and only aspects of sound and graphics would be improved.

This does not close the door to both participating in the project. Recall that the original development of Lollipop Chain Saw began in 2009 and it was not until 2010 that James Gunn joined to work on the script on the recommendation of Warner Bros., the game’s distributor in the West.

James Gunn continues to work with Warner Bros.; on the other hand, Dragami Games was recently founded as part of an agreement with Kadokawa Games and Yoshimi Yasuda, its former president and now CEO of Dragami Games. Grasshopper Manufacture, a studio founded and led by Suda51, continues to work on its own projects, so a collaboration would not be unreasonable.

In addition, it has already been confirmed that developers who participated in the original 2012 game, including Yasuda, will be in charge of the remake, so you should not worry, since they are the people who shaped the original proposal.
