It was a matter of time before Max landed in Spain. We knew this release would happen soon, although we did not know the exact date. This Wednesday, however, the doubts have disappeared: the American giant has announced that the platform that merges the HBO Max catalog with that of Discovery+ will arrive in the country on May 21.
The countdown is underway, so it is a good opportunity to prepare for the changes that are coming to the service. These are new developments that will reach both current subscribers of HBO Max, which will end up disappearing in its current form, and those who have not yet contracted this streaming proposal.
Max, the successor to HBO Max arrives with more content and a new app
Warner Bros. Discovery promises that Max will double the amount of content currently available on HBO Max. One of the most notable titles that will be available on the platform will be 'The House of the Dragon', which will premiere its new season on June 17. But we will also be able to view many of the other HBO and Warner franchises.
'Barbie', 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom', 'The Last of Us', 'The White Lotus', 'Euphoria', 'True Detective: Polar Night', 'The Regime', 'The Sympathizer', 'The Jinx' ', 'The Franchise', among others. And there will be no shortage of classics like 'Harry Potter', 'Joker' and 'The Lord of the Rings'. From Discovery we will see titles like '90 Day Fiancé', 'Gold Rush' and 'Couple Remodeling'.
The proposal will be accompanied by a paid sports complement designed for the European market that will not be available in other regions. It will cover tournaments such as tennis Grand Slams, the Australian Open, the three cycling Grand Tours, the Women's Tour de France, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, among many others.
Although, as we say, this is a proposal designed specifically for this region, the rights will vary according to the countries. Focusing on Spain, we can say that Warner Bros. Discovery has taken over the exclusive broadcast rights of UFC, so we will also be able to enjoy the MMA event. The Paris 2024 Olympic Games, for their part, will be available directly in all plans.
