Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Peter Parker Actor Recreates Tobey Maguire’s Iconic Dance

Although it debuted to negative reviews, the third film of spider-man directed by Sam Raimi gradually managed to win the hearts of fans. Internet memes certainly contributed to her redemption. One of the most popular jokes in the community has been revived thanks to actor Yuri Lowenthal.

For those who don’t know, spider-man 3 has a scene in which Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) dances outside a clothing store under the influence of the fearsome Venom symbiote. It’s a sequence that received a lot of criticism at the film’s premiere, but now has legendary status in the eyes of fans.

Since the film’s premiere in that distant 2007, Marvel has referred to the controversial and iconic dance on multiple occasions. One of the best known is in the opening scene of Into the Spider-VerseSony’s animated film that debuted in 2018.

It is unknown if we will see another recreation of that sequence in an official product, but the actor behind Peter Parker in the most recent Insomniac Games video games was in charge of keeping the meme alive.

This week began the San Diego Comic-Con 2023, the famous convention focused on comics, video games, series and movies. On Thursday, July 20, creatives, actors, and other members of Insomniac Games gathered for a special panel to talk at length about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2the new installment of the popular game series.

Just before the panel officially kicked off, Yuri Lowenthal, who plays Peter Parker in the video games, climbed up on the table and began to recreate the iconic dance of spider-man 3. The curious thing is that at that moment he was wearing a black suit, similar to the one used by Tobey Maguire in the iconic scene of the live-action film.

No wonder Yuri Lowenthal recreated the dance on panel. At the end of the day, the sequel to the 2018 video game will feature Venom as the main villain.

As expected, the conference attendees whooped with excitement and amusement. Certainly, seeing a Peter Parker actor imitate the dance from “Bully Maguire” is something you don’t see often. The moment lasted a few seconds, but it was enough to captivate the crowd that was present.

During the San Diego Comic-Con 2023 panel, Insomniac Games shared a new trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 focused on the narrative arc. It also introduced the new PlayStation 5 special edition inspired by the game.
