April 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Jordanian Armed Forces announced this Monday an increase in its air patrols to prevent “any side” from using its airspace for “any purpose”, in a context of great tensions in the region while awaiting an Israeli response to the attack of Tehran last Saturday, carried out in retaliation for Israel's bombing of the Iranian Consulate in Damascus (Syria).

This has been reported by a spokesperson for the Army, which maintains the position that the use of its airspace by other countries represents a “violation” of the country's sovereignty and that it can also endanger its citizens, as published the Jordanian news agency Petra.

A few hours earlier, Jordanian Foreign Minister Aiman Safadi confirmed that his country shot down some of the drones launched by Iran against Israel on the night of Saturday to Sunday.

Israel has thanked the United States, the United Kingdom, France and “other partners” for participating in the downing of more than 350 attack drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles launched by Iran and its allies on the night of Saturday to Sunday. The vast majority of the projectiles were intercepted and none caused significant damage.
