Italy Bans ChatGPT, Promises to Investigate OpenAI

It seems that OpenAI is going to have to face Italian privacy regulators, and it is that as we can read in gizmodo, Italy has temporarily banned access to ChatGPT from the country and is going to launch an investigation into OpenAIthe company behind this chatbot using artificial intelligence.

In principlethis investigation would have to do mainly with the supposed training of the artificial intelligence model with personal data collected and stored in mass, something for which OpenAI does not have permission in the eyes of Italian regulators, and therefore should be investigated to see if the handling of this data has been done correctly.

In addition, Italian regulators indicate that the information that OpenAI provides to users does not always correspond to real data that can be verifiedso that incorrect processing of the data can result in a breach of the GDPR, something that the main technological companies also do and little by little they are finding the consequences.

Last but not least, the absence of an age filter to ensure that ChatGPT users are at least 13 years old is also questioned that the company indicates when using the service.
