( Spanish) — The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology of Guatemala (Insivumeh) reported this Monday on its Twitter account that the Fuego volcano has registered an increase in its activity since Sunday night, which has generated a flow of lava greater than 1,000 meters in length and generating seismic activity and pyroclastic flows.
“At this time, high columns of ash are observed coming from the crater and curtains of ash that reach up to 5,000 meters high, formed by the descent of pyroclastic flows that travel approximately 6 kilometers,” Insivumeh said in the statement.
