As can be seen in the photograph, these flies are fluorescent. Their bodies give off light. Specifically, his eyes emit red light while much of the rest of his body emits green light. Such unique flies are not of an exotic species that naturally possesses this quality, but are the result of genetic modifications, within the framework of research carried out by the team led by Gerard Terradas, from the University of California at San Diego, and who is now at Pennsylvania State University, both institutions in the United States. The study in question is titled “Genetic conversion of a split-drive into a full-drive element” and has been published in the academic journal Nature Communications. (Font: NCYT by Amazings)
