Exoprimal takes us to 2043, when three years have passed since fissures in space-time began the invasion of Earth by dinosaurs. Humanity is on the brink of extinction, but all is not lost. The Aibius Corp. has developed Leviathan, an AI capable of predicting where invasions will occur. This technology, added to the mechanical armor or exoarmor manufactured by the same company, give humanity the opportunity to fight to contain the hordes of dinosaurs.
Exo-Armors are categorized into three roles: Assault, Tank, and Support. Players can change their exo armor at any time, even during combat. Assault Exo-Armors deal damage to the enemy with short, medium, and long-range attacks; tanks soak up enemy attacks, taking damage to protect their allies; and the support role uses a series of functions to ensure the survival of the team. Exo armor options can be expanded by equipping a component.
In Exoprimal the story takes place while playing the main mode of the game, Jurassic Tide (Dino Survival). In this mode, two squads of five players compete to complete objectives and both follow the guidelines of Leviathan, who appears as a humanoid figure and communicates through voice and augmented reality images. The goal is to finish the mission before the other team, but depending on the situation, players can form an alliance to defeat a more powerful enemy. In case you don’t want to engage in direct combat with other players, you can choose the PvE option.
“In Jurassic Tide, the missions change based on the player’s progress in the game,” explains Capcom. “The experience will vary from game to game, even games with locations and objectives already seen.” In addition to unlocking story scenes, players will earn rewards and experience points for leveling up both character and exoarmor. Regarding dinosaurs, they are presented as powerful beasts that can mutate into neosaurs, which are dinosaurs with atypical appearances and abilities.
Exoprimal is a game as a service and its future is to evolve by adding more content, including maps, exoarmor variants, missions and game modes, as the seasons go by. The first pass is included in the Deluxe Edition and will give access to different cosmetic items. In addition, Capcom has announced collaborations with other games of the house, including Street Fighter (season 2) and Monster Hunter (season 3). For the first season, which will begin on July 14, a new game mode called Savage Gauntlet is scheduled to arrive.
