Conference: "AI in Latin America and the Caribbean: challenges, strategies and governance for the development of the region"

Artificial intelligence (AI) represents one of the most transformative tools of the 21st century, offering innovative solutions to the structural challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean. The region is trapped in a set of development traps marked by low growth capacity, high inequality and low mobility and social cohesion, and weak institutional and governance capacities. This event seeks to analyze how AI can be a key to overcoming these traps, contributing to more inclusive, productive and sustainable development.

The conference will bring together experts, government representatives, private sector actors and civil society leaders to reflect on strategies that position AI at the service of collective well-being. For two days, both the challenges and opportunities associated with the development and responsible use of AI in key sectors such as education, health, government transparency and productive development will be discussed.

During the conference, fundamental issues for the development and governance of artificial intelligence (AI) in Latin America and the Caribbean will be addressed. The challenges and strategies necessary for effective regulation of AI will be analyzed, both at a global, regional and national level, highlighting the importance of multi-level governance that guarantees its responsible implementation. Likewise, the local capacities of the countries in the region will be evaluated, focusing on digital infrastructure, connectivity and access to quality data as enabling elements to take advantage of the potential of these technologies. In terms of productive impact, practical cases will be presented that show how AI can promote sustainable development.
