July 21 (Portaltic/EP) –

Open AI has updated its ‘chatbot’ powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) ChatGPT with a new custom instructions featurewith which users can add preferences or requirements so that the ‘chatbot’ takes them into account and remembers their tastes and responds according to their needs.

The technology company led by Sam Altman, which in recent months has launched different generative AI tools, such as Text Classifier and Point-E, continues to introduce innovations in its technology to refine and adapt the responses of the conversations.

As for its most popular ‘chatbot’, ChatGPT, OpenAI has added the new function of personalized instructionswith which users can add preferences or requirements for ChatGPT to remember when generating your answers and adapts to your needs.

At the moment, every time a user starts a new conversation with this tool, you should explain what you need in detail, such as the format of the response, your tastes or specific needs. This is because the ‘chatbot’ does not remember any type of user information, but instead applies the filters proposed for that specific query.

Hence with this custom instruction feature, seek to offer a possibility to customize the ‘chatbot’. Once these data have been entered and recognized by ChatGPT, you can start a conversation and wait for responses based on that information.

As OpenAI has explained in a statement on its websitethis function is designed with the aim of Avoid having to repeat preferences or information in every conversation. In fact, as he has qualified, they have understood “the essential role of maneuverability” to allow models to “effectively reflect the various contexts and unique needs of each person.”

As exemplified by OpenAI, a case in which this function could be useful is that of a teacher making a lesson plan. With personalized instructions, the teacher could detail that you are preparing material for science students in a specific course. Thus, ChatGPT would take it into account for its answers without the need for the user to enter this nuance in each question.

The same happens in the case of a developerwhich can specify in which code you usually want to program without having to specify it in every conversation you have with this generative AI tool.

On the other hand, it can also be determined how should ChatGPT respond. That is, with this custom instructions feature you can configure the ‘chatbot’ to respond, for example, with boards, with a list, or describing the pros and cons of each option to provide a comparison.

OpenAI has commented that this function is already available in beta version for all the subscribers of the payment plan, that is, ChatGPT Plus. However, it has advanced that it will take it to all users “in the coming weeks.”
