Within his ideals, Camilo was a faithful opponent of the use of his father’s image as an element of marketing campaigns. He argued that the figure of ‘Che’ had been disproportionately commercialized.
The one who showed his regret through social networks was the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Carnel Bermúdez. “With deep pain we say goodbye to Camilo, Che’s son and promoter of his ideas,” he wrote on his Twitter account.
The president also highlighted the role that the deceased had as “director of the Che Center”, where he kept “part of his father’s extraordinary legacy.” “Hugs to his mother, Aleida, to her widow and daughters and to the entire Guevara March family,” he closed.
Ernesto Guevara is also survived by a daughter, Camila. She is the result of the marriage that the Argentine had with the late singer Suylén Milanés, a descendant of the Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés.
Along with Aleida March, she conceived Camilo, Aleida, Celia and Ernesto; while he had another daughter, Hilda –dead-, with the Peruvian Hilda Gadea.
