“At first we had been told that, ‘Hey, we’re going to do a new ‘Hills,’ and we want you to be involved, but we’re going to hire a new, younger cast,’” Jenner said. remembered. “They said they were going to hire the new, younger cast like they are doing now when they originally hired us. I was like, ‘Oh, that’s great.’ They’re going to hire a new, younger cast, ‘you guys are going to come in as the OG’s. It’s not going to be focused and centered around you guys.’”

However, Jenner added, “That’s not what happened.”

“We went to do the show and it was like, ‘No, it’s just you guys,’” he said. “We had offered them a lot of different young people. I offered brandon [Thomas] Leeward, which was great for the show. I had a bunch of people I gave to and they just didn’t take it. They’re like, ‘No.’”

“I was at a completely different point in my life and what they were selling me, on the show in general, was not what they were producing,” Jenner noted.

The “Princess of Malibu” star noted that “they put a lot of pressure on us to drive [the] history,” but it was hard to do since they weren’t the same young adults living life in Los Angeles.

“So that was a bummer, because we needed a younger cast to be in there,” Jenner sighed. “I didn’t mind going in and out and filming and living our authentic lives from where we were, at the time, but everything else felt very forced and pressured.”

The original “The Hills” premiered in 2006 and ran until 2010. It focused on “Laguna Beach” star Lauren Conrad as she navigated through high school and then the world of “Teen Vogue” couture alongside her friends and love interests. Conrad did not return for “The Hills: New Beginnings.”
