BET Awards 2022: the complete list of winners

Black excellence will take center stage in the 2022 BET Awards on Sunday night to celebrate achievements in music, culture and sports.

Taraji P. Henson will return to present the show at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, where artists such as Lizzo, Lil Wayne, Chance the Rapper, Ella Mai, Roddy Ricch, Jack Harlow and Chloe Bailey will perform.

Doja Cat leads the nominations heading into the ceremony with six nominations.

It is very likely that he will dominate the R&B and hip-hop categories with his third studio album, “Planet Her”, which is expected to take home multiple awards. Her hit single “Kiss Me More” with SZA, which earned the singer her first Grammy Award earlier this year, it’s also nominated for Video of the Year and Best Collaboration.

Ari Lennox and Drake tied for the second most nominated artists, each earning four nominations.

The rapper will face Doja Cat in the Album of the Year category, which also includes Kanye West, Silk Sonic, Tyler, The Creator, HER and current winner Jazmine Sullivan.

But the biggest honor of the night will go to Sean “Diddy” Combs, who will receive the award for lifetime achievement in the show, after last year’s winner, Queen Latifah. The prestigious award is given each year to industry giants who have “significantly shaped culture throughout their long careers” and “been transformational leaders who consistently inspire generations by setting a true standard of excellence.”

The hip-hop mogul and impresario certainly fits the bill, selling more than 100 million records worldwide during his career and founding the legendary Bad Boy Records.

Combs will take the stage for a star-studded retrospective at the ceremony, which will feature Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Nas, Lil’ Kim, Busta Rhymes, The Lox, Bryson Tiller, Faith Evans and The Maverick City Choir.
