Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reported This Monday through a statement that, following a request by the Ukrainian president, Vladimir Zelensky, his country will provide a new military assistance package for kyiv worth 68 million US dollars.

This will include 14 armored personnel carriers, 20 Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles and other military equipment Australian-made, plus a contribution to the NATO trust fund.

According to Albanese, the total amount of military assistance provided by Australia to support the Ukrainian Army will be increased to 264 million US dollars.

The president said that he will grant approximately 6 million dollars to the Ukrainian Border Guard Service so that it can modernize its management team, as well as improve its cybersecurity and strengthen border operations on the ground.

He also mentioned that his government will support Ukraine’s case in the International Court of Justice, in The Hague (Netherlands), against Russia. He also announced that tariffs on products imported from Ukraine to Australia will be removed.

“My visit to kyiv and recent visits by other world leaders send a clear message that democratic nations like Australia will stand by the Ukrainian people in their time of need,” he said.

Previously, the US Department of Defense confirmed that Washington will send Ukraine a new $820 million military aid package that includes two advanced medium and long range air defense systems NASAMS and four counter-battery radars. Additional ammunition for artillery and the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system will also be included in the assistance.
