At least three people have been killed and several more trapped after a four-story residential building collapsed Tuesday night in Lucknow, the capital of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, following a strong earthquake in the area.
“The building suddenly collapsed. Three bodies were recovered,” explained the Deputy Prime Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Brajesh Pathak, as part of his visit to the site, as reported by ‘The Times of India’.
At least twelve people were rescued and sent to a nearby hospital after the building collapsed, in which 24 people were, as reported by the main secretary of the state government, Sanjay Prasad.
Hours earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 on the Richter scale has shaken the border between India and Nepal, although no Indian citizen has been killed, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the daily reported. ‘The Hindustan Times’.
