At least seven miners have died and thirteen more are missing in a landslide at an illegal gold mine in Bengkayang.

The incident occurred on Thursday, but until now it had not been revealed in the local press, which assures that twenty miners were surprised by the detachment.

During the day on Friday, the bodies of seven people have been located and work continues to find the rest of the disappeared using heavy machinery.

The recovered deceased “are all residents of the Lembah Bawang sub-district, as confirmed by the mayor of the town of Kinande,” Lembah Bawang Governor Adris told the InsidePontianak news portal.
