At least 19 dead and 11 injured when a bus plunges into a ravine in southwestern Pakistan

July 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least 19 people have died and eleven others have been injured in Pakistan after the bus in which they were traveling fell into a ravine in the municipality of Zhob, in the southwest of the country.

The bus, carrying more than 30 passengers, was traveling from Islamabad to Quetta, Deputy Commissioner Mehtab Shah confirmed on Sunday. The incident is being investigated but the Police suspect that it could be due to the excessive speed of the vehicle.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene shortly after receiving information, according to Shah. The bodies had been taken to the hospital where the process was being carried out to identify them.

The medical superintendent of the Zhob Civil Hospital, Nurul Haq, has confirmed to the ‘Dawn’ newspaper that some of the injured are in critical condition and fears that the death toll will increase in the coming hours.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Balochistan, Mir Abdul Qudus Bizenjo, has expressed his sorrow for the lives lost in the incident and offered his deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
