15 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The NGO Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) has raised to 522 the death toll in Iran since the outbreak of protests over the death in custody in September last year of the young Iranian Kurdish Mahsa Amini, allegedly detained for wearing the Islamic veil wrong.

HRANA, based in the United States and specialized in monitoring the humanitarian situation in the Islamic republic, estimates that among the deceased there are 70 minors and 68 police officers and heads of the Iranian security forces.

HRANA also lists nearly 20,000 detainees, including 110 who risk being sentenced to death under Islamic law. Up to now, four convicts have been executed in relation to these demonstrations.

The NGO Iran Human Rights maintains the death toll published five days ago: 481 deaths, including 64 children and 35 women.

The Iranian government has not commented on these figures or on the NGO reports in this regard.
