Al Shabaab announces the death of five Ugandan soldiers in the Somali region of Lower Shabelle

July 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The jihadist group Al Shabaab announced this Sunday that five Ugandan soldiers have died in an attack against the African Union mission in the Somali region of Lower Shabelle.

Somali military sources have confirmed an attack although they have not specified the number of victims, reports the Hiiraan on Line news portal.

Al Shabaab assures that a vehicle of the AU mission, ATMIS, was hit by a bomb as it passed through the town of Marca, in the south of the country, without giving further details.

Somalia is facing an increase in the number of attacks by the Islamist militia both in the capital, Mogadishu, and in other parts of the south of the country, which has led the new president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, to promise that he will focus his efforts on security during the first hundred days of his mandate.
