Adobe has released a beta version of Photoshop that includes one of the most anticipated features: the generative fill generator. This feature uses artificial intelligence to non-destructively add, remove and modify objects, simply entering a text as an indication or prompt.
Text-based generative AI has gained popularity on the Internet, one of its primary uses being to give life to the different image generators that we find on the net, such as DALL-E and Stable Diffusion. In the case of Adobe, its image generation technology is called Firefly and it is what drives the generative AI in Photoshop.
It should be noted that the implementation of image generators is not without controversy, such as copyright infringement. To avoid ethical and legal issues, Adobe has trained its image generator with images licensed from Adobe Stock and content in the public domain.
The generative fill generator is expected to be available to everyone in the second half of 2023. In the meantime, Adobe continues to work on additional improvements and changes to the Photoshop beta.including improvements to gradients and presets, so even though we’re testing Photoshop Beta now, we will find that the version that reaches users during the second half of 2023 will be better.
