COVID-19 probably originated in a Chinese laboratory, according to a US study

26 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The SARS-CoV-2 virus that caused the pandemic that began in 2020 most likely spread due to an accident in a Chinese laboratory, according to the conclusions of a study by the United States Department of Energy seen by the newspaper ‘The Wall Street Journal’.

The secret services report delivered to the White House and several congressmen is based on new intelligence data but acknowledges that other departments and previous reports from the Department of Energy do not align with this conclusion and therefore deserves “low confidence.”

Other US agencies attribute the spread of the virus to a natural contagion while other agencies have not yet decided on it.

In 2021 it was the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that concluded that the pandemic was the result of a leak in a laboratory with “moderate confidence” and still maintains this position.

The virus was first detected in Wuhan, China, in November 2019. Since then, nearly 700 million cases and nearly seven million deaths have been confirmed.
