A video of the disassembly of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra shows the enormous size of its cameras

Yesterday we talked about the new Xiaomi 12S Ultraa terminal of the latest batch that joins the club of terminals that have a one-inch sensor -a measure that has no direct correspondence in the sensor- and, therefore, they should have special capabilities in terms of light collection and other parameters.

However, we have been able to see GSM Arena some images of the disassembly of this new terminalrevealing the camera based on the Sony IMX989 sensor. As we can see, the camera system occupies a large part of the terminal, especially compared to smartphones from just five years ago.

In fact, at the time there was talk of the enormous amount of space that periscope cameras occupied horizontally, but the area occupied by the new one-inch camera is quite similar, while the thickness of the complete set exceeds one centimeter, which is why the assembly needs to reside outside of the overall shape of the phone.

It should be noted that the lens actually has 8 elementsa specification at the level of larger lenses that we would find in reflex cameras, so it is a huge engineering feat.
