At least ten dead and 14 injured after a bus accident in Baku, Togo

At least ten people have died and 14 have been injured this Tuesday after a bus accident about seven kilometers from Wahala in the town of Baku, in Togo.

The accident occurred on the road that connects Togo with Burkina Faso at around 07:00 (local time), the vehicle derailed after bursting the front tires, most of the passengers were women, who apparently were heading to the Gléi market, as reported by the Togo Web news portal.

Fatal accidents are frequent on the main roads in Togo, a small West African country of about eight million people.

From July to December 2021, the competent services confirmed 3,577 accidents on Togolese roads with 334 deaths and 4,655 injuries.
