The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, met this Monday with Meinrad Spenger, the CEO of Masorange – the telecommunications company resulting from the merger of Orange and MásMóvil in Spain – to analyse the “investment effort” that the company will make, which plans to allocate 4 billion euros in the next three years to the deployment of 5G, fibre and new services.

“We have analyzed the investment effort that the new company will undertake in our country to contribute to the digital transformation and to secure and advanced connectivity, while also guaranteeing a quality service for consumers,” Sánchez said on his profile on the social network X.

Spenger said at the beginning of last April, shortly after the Government authorized the merger of Orange and MásMóvil – an operation valued at around 18.6 billion euros – that Masorange would invest 4 billion euros in the next three years in Spain.

Specifically, the company intends to deploy up to six million new real estate units with its own fibre optic network, which will be added to the company’s existing footprint of 17 million homes, as well as increasing its 5G coverage in Spain to over 90%.

“Today I met with the President of the Government (…). I told him that at Masorange we are working to make the best fibre and 5G networks in Europe available to citizens and businesses. We want to be part of the economic development of our country and we are proud to work towards a sustainable future for people and the planet. We are striving to make Spain the leader in connectivity and innovative solutions in Europe,” Spenger stressed in a message on the social network X.
