MACC present at the exhibition “Heroes, Gods and Giants: Indonesia on stage”

Largest exhibition of Egyptian artifacts to open at Shanghai Museum

The Mercosur Asean Chamber of Commerce (MACC) was present at the opening of the exhibition “Heroes, Gods and Giants: Indonesia on Stage”, an event organized by the Embassy of Indonesia. Engineer Carlos Rizzuti, director of the MACC, attended this cultural exhibition that offers a unique immersion in the rich Indonesian artistic tradition.

The exhibition, which is being held at the National Museum of Oriental Art, offers a fascinating insight into Indonesia’s tangible and intangible culture through a careful selection of objects, puppets and scenographic devices. The central concept of the exhibition revolves around the notion of the liminal, exploring the border spaces between different cultural and artistic manifestations.

Visitors are invited to walk through a space that blurs the boundaries between everyday life and stage experience, traditional theatre and contemporary performance, light and shadow. This unique perspective allows for a deeper and more nuanced approach to Indonesian traditions.

In an interesting dialogue between the traditional and the contemporary, the exhibition incorporates a textile sculpture designed specifically for the museum space by Argentine artist Tadeo Muleiro. This work is inspired by the duality inherent in Indonesian puppetry and dance, creating a bridge between local artistic practices and Indonesian traditions.

The exposure “Heroes, Gods and Giants: Indonesia on Stage” will be open to the public from Thursday, July 18 to Sunday, November 24. Those interested can visit it from Wednesday to Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on the second floor of the National Museum of Oriental Art, located at Viamonte 525, inside the Borges Cultural Center.

This exhibition represents a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in Indonesia’s rich culture and explore the intersections between tradition and modernity, offering an enriching cultural experience for all visitors.
